Recommended for 1 CPE in Ethics at the basic level.
Program is suitable at the basic level for individuals who have routine interactions with others that could potentially lead to contentious conversations. OK Ethics makes no guarantees as it is up to the individual practitioner to determine relevance to their specific area of practice.

Technology is rapidly transforming every aspect of our lives. Not only does it alter how we interact, it can also influence our perceptions of right and wrong. Led by Ken Parker, one of Oklahoma’s most influential education-tech leaders, this program is intended to awaken leaders to the real risks and rewards of technology. A technological pioneer and entrepreneur, Ken provides a unique perspective on a far-reaching and timely topic. In addition to sharing his observations about the role of technology in shaping our perspectives, Ken will offer practical suggestions for navigating current tech trends including the Internet of Things, Big Data, AI, Data Privacy/Security, Biotechnology, and more.

Speaker Bio:

A native of Ohio, Ken Parker moved with his family to Oklahoma in 1975, when his father invested in the oil patch. A motivated student, he skipped his senior year of high school and became a college student in 1979 at Oklahoma Christian University. Ken received his undergraduate degree in Math and Computer Science in 1983 while maintaining a perfect 4.0. As a first-generation college graduate, he immediately joined Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin Space Company), where he served as a Sr. Group Engineer and Principal Investigator until 1993 when he transitioned to JP Morgan on Wall Street. While at JPM, he was responsible for leading the team that created the JPM Analytics Library. During this time, Ken also earned a Masters in Computer Science degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1994. In 1998, he helped co-found RiskMetrics Group, which grew from 25 to 1200 employees over 12 years. Following the sale of the company in 2010 for $1.55 billion, he co-founded NextThought, LLC in 2011, where he currently serves as CEO. Ken is considered among Oklahoma’s most influential leaders in utilizing technology to change the way people experience education. He is a member of Leadership Oklahoma Class 30 and serves on numerous boards, including the Oklahoma Christian University Board of Trustees.

Ken and Carole, his lovely wife of 36 years, live in a log home on a ranch in Noble, OK. They have three grown children, all married, currently living in California and Oklahoma. Best of all, they have six beautiful grandchildren.
